I have had trouble with Blackboard and my instructor has asked me to make a screen capture. How do I do this?
Making a screen capture literally takes a "snapshot" of your computer screen and saves it to the Windows Clipboard. (The clipboard is where anything you cut or copy goes before you paste.)
To make a Screen Capture,
Choose what you need to capture on your computer desktop
Hit the PRINT SCREEN/SYSRQ button. (This should be to the right of the F12 button and just above the INSERT button.) You have now "copied" a snapshot of the computer desktop to the clipboard.
To save the picture,
Go to START > PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > PAINT.
In Paint, click on VIEW in the tool bar. The PASTE option should be available. Click this and you should see a picture of your desktop in the window.
Click on FILE and choose SAVE AS. We recommend that the picture be saved as a JPEG (JPG). You can choose what format to save the picture by selecting the drop down menu for SAVE AS TYPE and choose JPEG.
Put in a title for the picture in the FILE NAME text box.
You can now choose where to save the file. (We recommend saving the picture to the computer desktop for convenience.)
The picture is now ready to upload on Blackboard or attach to an email message.
